What is Esports?

  • Electronic Sports or gaming/competitive video games. This sport is a home for many students who would not normally participate in traditional sports, clubs, or activities. We are able to get students into a team environment, out of their homes and with other people, learning teamwork, social skills, and exposing them to potential job opportunities in the gaming industry.
  • Esports was officially recognized as a high school sport in 2018. In 2022, Colorado recognized Esports as a high school sport. This means students can letter and play for state championships in the sport.
  • There are approximately 9,000 teams nationwide. (Out of approximately 27,000 high schools)
  • There are just over 100 teams statewide. (Approximately half of schools)
